Can Bathroom tile be painted a different color?
Bathroom tile can absolutely be refinished to add more color to a bathroom. The tile is not painted because, if it were just painted it would peel off. The tile is refinished much like a bathtub would be refinished. The key to getting a long lasting finish is to etch the tile to open the pores, chemically clean the tile then apply a molecular bonding agent. The final step is applying not paint, but instead a synthetic porcelain coating that will withstand the test of time.
Does this also seal the grout?
Yes, Not only does refinishing the tile change the color but it also seals the grout and prevents mold and mildew from growing on the grout lines. Any missing grout will be filled in with a vinyl paste before refinishing. So after the tile is refinished it will have a nice, clean, uniform appearance.
