Dallas Bathtub, Shower, Tile Refinishing and Resurfacing
I am not trying to belittle anyone by using the word ignorant. I mean that in the way it was meant to be used some of these people simply are not knowledgeable about how to properly refinish bathtubs, showers and tile. Honestly it is not even their fault. It usually starts as a house painter that sees the opportunity to make extra money on a client he is already working for. He gets his paint from a home improvement store and has seen the Bathtub refinishing kits sold in these stores and thinks "I'm already here, how hard can it be". Extremely hard is my answer. A professional bathtub refinishing and resurfacing technician would never in a million years use the so called refinishing kits sold at these stores! These kits are simply painting kits Not refinishing kits.
Let me explain, Paint is brushed or rolled on top of a surface, refinishing uses techniques that allow us to penetrate that old Bathtub, tile, shower surface and chemically fuse a new surface into the old surface. After the surface is smooth a molecular bonding agent is then applied that allows us to chemically weld 3 more coats onto the old bathtub, tile, shower surface. In other words the new surface is an integral part of the bathtub, shower, tile, surface being refinished. We apply these coatings using a sprayer called a High Volume Low Pressure sprayer. This is made for fine finish applications and is like an air brush on steroids. It does not overspray when used by an experienced professional.
