It was a blessed day today! I did work for a gentleman that I had done refinishing for in the past. Super nice guy in Arlington. Dallas bathtub refinishing
I had refinished this tub about 2 weeks ago but the tile guys came in soon after I finished and did not protect the tub. It had grout ground into the coating and they had really did a number on the tub. I actually went out there with the intention of touching it up at no charge but once I seen it I knew it was going to be a major job. The reason I say it was a blessing is because the man told me he knew it was not a warranty issue. The tile guys did not even finish after they seen how bad the tub was messed up. I have found that if you are honest with people and just do your job. More times than not people will pay you and not take advantage of you. They are well aware that it takes money just to roll out of bed in the morning I think most of the issues come about with some of the younger generation that simply don't know how to look people in the eyes and just be honest! Personally, I have found that being honest and respectful bridges any gap such as age, race, religion, culture, political differences just honesty and respect for the other person.
I was blessed today with having a great job from a guy that was extremely nice! He had everything cleaned and ready to go so I was able to get in and start the process quickly.
It was a cultured marble bathtub that had cracked up along the side. Most people dont know cultured marble is crushed limestone and fiberglass resin. So I was able to apply 2 coats of liquid fiberglass resin over the entire tub which covered and filled in the crack making this a solid unit. After the fiberglass resin I applied 7 coats of synthetic porcelain to give an excellent gloss and durable shine to the surface!
Please turn your speakers down before playing the video. The machine noise is loud... Sorry. I had been posting pictures of my jobs before and after but I thought a video may be more helpful. Please keep in mind this is not a high def video, It looks much better in person but this is just to give you a visual of the before and after process. Thank you for watching!

Today I met an absolutely wonderful couple with a precious little 7 month old baby. I told them my baby just turned 20 this month! Seems like yesterday, it really does! They had a Gorgeous stand alone 'skirted' bathtub that had been painted by the previous homeowner and they needed it sanded down and refinished. Bathtub Refinishing, Dallas
Most days and I mean literally 99% of the time I am so blessed with working for great people that understand the pro's and cons of being self employed. I feel that by doing the work myself, not trying to meet a quota, not worrying if a job takes an extra hour allows me to bring my clients the absolute best refinishing at the absolute best prices! Today was one of those 'bust' days. I drove out to the job to find their was no electricity. I am positive the owner did not know and to him it was just no electricity so lets reschedule. To me it was no Electricity so I miss a day of work! That is the down fall of being self employed. I only make money when I work. I schedule one to two jobs a day. So in the event of a snag it literally means that 40 minute drive there was wasted. The 40 minute drive back now puts me in over an hour of wasted time and Gas. However, we need to always put a positive spin on a negative circumstance so I am thankful that I have work, I am thankful that 99% of the time it is for absolutely wonderful Christian people I work for! Today was one of those extremely rare days when I really should have charged extra! I spent almost an hour and a half getting these two tubs clean enough to start the refinishing process. I know that sounds terrible of me to say but I have never charged more for a job then I quote the job for. These tubs were full of loose trash and had grout stuck all over them! these pictures are after I had been cleaning them for about an hour! It's honestly not the extra work, but it's just with all this dust it is so hard to get the results I know are possible. However, I just worked through it, honored the bid and the results are below.
Rowlett, Rockwall, Mesquite and surrounding areas Bathtub Refinishing. Refinishing not only updates your bathtub, shower, tile, vanity or counter tops instantly but also updates your bathroom instantly by making the old, worn or ugly look new again. Refinishing a porcelain tub can also protect your family from the very real dangers of lead poisoning!
As your porcelain tub loses it's shine the seal or Glaze is being removed. This allows lead to leech into the bath water which is especially damaging to children that use bath time as play time! When children bathe they love usually stay in the tub for extended periods of time and have toys to occupy them. As any of us parents know those toys inevitably end up in the child's mouth! There are documented cases of children suffering from lead poisoning caused by lead leeching into the bath water. This can be fixed by professional refinishing! It literally takes a few hours. The tub is back in service the next day and the extra benefit is the bathtub will look great again and be much easier to keep clean!
I met a Gentleman over the weekend here in Dallas that needed help with his cultured marble tub. He had paid another guy $75.00 to fix a crack in the tub and when we looked at it close. We both came to the conclusion this guy had no idea what he was doing! The best we could figure out was they had put liquid nails on the crack and it was literally still in a bead over the crack. We also found an additional 6 cracks, which is not uncommon. However, The owner needed 2 things done. Our first priority was to make sure these cracks are sealed off correctly so water does not find its way under the house. That alone is worth the cost of refinishing! However, we wanted to make good on the 2nd priority which was to make this bathtub look new again! So we got to work. He knew he needed the Gold Package so I could do this in 2 trips.
This took 2 trips and 2 hours each day. It will be ready to use Monday 3-3-14. Bathtub Refinishing | Dallas
What a great day it was today! I was able to spend the day with a terrific couple that just bought a 1925 era home and needed several things refinished. I had refinished 2 bathtubs for her about 2 weeks ago and she called me back out for a Clawfoot tub upstairs, a bath sink, kitchen countertops and the I also refinished the vent-A-hood over her stove so it would match her new stove.
The counter tops were porcelain! 1925 original. I loved doing this work and the craftsmanship back then was so unique. Everything had character. I had never seen a counter top like this in my 22 years of refinishing. The 2 Bathtubs I refinished last week were called skirted bath tubs. They have a flare at the bottom of the tub. They are gorgeous.
It was a great day here in Dallas to refinish some 1950's era cotton candy pink tile and update the bathroom for this extremely nice couple I met! Here are some before and after pics of the Bathtub, Shower tile surround, Tile surrounding the bathroom walls and the tile floor. That was a lot of work I was blessed with and honored I was the one they choose to do the work!
Today was another blessed day! I met a great guy that wanted to update his 1950's cotton candy pink tile! So this is going to be a two day job and will include the tile walls, tile surrounding the tub, bathtub and floor tile.
I took several of the tile off today so I could reset them back in place securely. I replaced any missing grout and I was able to get a good base coat on the tile surrounding the tub and the tub.
I will be going back for a third trip tomorrow. He is such a nice guy he has asked me at least a dozen times if I need more money. I feel bad because I have to take up another day of his time and he feels like I'm not charging enough! I told him the money situation is fine110% and he does have the 1950's tile that is fired a whole lot better then the tile of today is. Am I surprised that it took a day more than I intended? No, that is very hard tile to work with and the important thing is we have it etched good, we have great coverage on it and now it comes down to just the finishing touches.

WOW! I usually thank God for the work he provided for me but today I had to add an extra Thank You for just getting me to and from the job site safely. The Ice was crazy. Actually the Ice was not crazy at all.... however, those nuts driving at 40 - 50 mph then hitting the ice and flying off the road, that was crazy!
However, I went out to Plano today and met two very nice ladies. They had a fiberglass bathtub that someone had tried to patch before they purchased the house. It was covered with a mat so when she removed the bath mat she seen this damaged area below. Bathtub Refinishing, Plano
So many times the subject comes up about what can be refinished and what can not be refinished. Along with that we often get the definition of refinishing and painting confused.
It's not the consumers fault. The manufacturers of D.I.Y. Home improvement products such as paint will mislead the consumer by printing the words refinishing on the can. The truth is if that product even worked half as good as they say it does. I would gladly buy it by the case. However, the simple truth is it is pure junk. Even the word Epoxy is an overstatement. Epoxy is such old technology that It was used in 1991 when I first started tub work. We used it for Apartments. They wanted the tub painted and needed it to last 6 months, because that is a lease term. That was using the good strong Epoxy that mixed equal parts and dried in one hour. My question is How can a one part spray can be called epoxy? I mean we had to mix half paint to half hardner just before doing the job.
My point is that A professional re finisher will use synthetic porcelain, not epoxy. I can tell you that fusion finish will only use synthetic porcelain. I will etch the old surface so the molecular bonding agent called fusion lock chemically welds the new surface into, not on top of the old surface. Dallas Bathtub Refinishing, Dallas,Tx.
I met another great couple out in Burleson today and I tell you what.... that is a gorgeous area with gorgeous homes! My new friends needed me to update the bathroom for them so I did just what they asked.
Any one that has ever had cultured marble know how the discoloration and cracks appear at the bottom of sinks and tubs. It has nothing to do with cleanliness but you feel like it does. So we solved that problem on a jacuzzi tub with some out of date cultured marble shelves. Also an 'L' shaped vanity.
The same home needed the 'L' shaped vanity refinished too. I was able to save them over $50.00 off my price list by having this all completed in one trip! It worked out great for both of us! They saved money and I was able to put in a full days work in a home of very friendly people! Now that is a blessed day!
Bathtub, Tile, Shower refinishing is a low cost alternative to improve the value of your home!
Bathtub, shower, tile refinishing should never be a D.I.Y project. First, the kits sold at home improvement stores are simply trash. They are thinned down Epoxy at best and most of the ones I have seen are nothing more then oil base paint! That is why it says to allow 36 hours to dry!
Second, applying the finish coat is not even a quarter of the actual refinishing job. To properly refinish a surface the area must be etched, then the area is cleaned with a chemical cleaner to remove any oil and soap residue that possibly may not be visible upon inspection of the surface.
I then use a fusion lock molecular bonding agent that is worked into the microscopic scratches and pores that are exposed through etching. The final step is 7 - 9 layers of synthetic porcelain that is applied using an H.V.L.P. applicator that produces only 2 pounds of air pressure. This allows me to gently lay the coating down with hot air that is heated to remove any moisture.
