Today was another blessed day for me right here in Rowlett! The gentleman could not have been friendlier and I was able to work in his gorgeous home without interruptions.
The project today was a fiberglass jetted tub that had one large crack and 2 more that I found while cleaning the tub and prepping it for being refinished. The cracks were minor and I had already given a price for the tub so the other cracks did not raise the price any. I hand rubbed fiberglass resin over the entire tub so the cracks would not only fill in but actually melt in with the resin so the unit would be solid. Here is a picture of the bathtub after I had applied the resin and before the refinishing was completed.
After applying 7 coats of synthetic porcelain with a retarding agent so it dries slower and allows the coating to flex with the fiberglass! This is a very, very important thing to know because these guys using a one type coating system would have applied a harder surface which would have been brittle so after time (maybe 1 use , maybe 100) the coating would have shown cracks and started chipping away! However, I got the job completed right for the gentleman! He said he loved it and I was out of his way within about 3 hours total. It will be ready to use in 30 hours (normally 24 but the slower drying time adds a few hours just to be on the safe side). As always I asked my Father to bless this home and bless this work and I give the credit to my Father with the appreciation for the knowledge He gave me in the refinishing business and I do this in Jesus' name!
